ST. BONAVENTURE TAKES 2022 UNYCRC 7's QUALIFIER TITLE, WILL GO TO NATIONALS IN PITTSBURGH
Will be joined by the University of Rochester at Nationals
It wasn't classic Rugby 7's weather, but that didn't stop Colgate, St. Bonaventure, the University of Rochester, Niagara, and Geneseo from putting on an entertaining show.
St. Bonaventure gained first playoff seed after round-robin pool play, followed by Rochester, with Niagara and Geneseo taking the final small college playoff spots.
Colgate, as a Division 1 program, was ineligible for small college qualification. They did contribute mightily to the high quality of play, though, throughout the day. Hopefully more D1 schools will participate in next year's tournament.
St. Bonaventure and Rochester squared off in the small college final, with St, Bonaventure taking the crown and an automatic bid to the NCR national 7s tournament in Pittsburgh next month. The Upstate Conference received a second automatic bid from NCR, so Rochester will join St. Bonaventure in the national tournament.
Geneseo squeezed past Niagara in the 3rd place match
Congratulations to St. Bonaventure, and good luck to both teams in Pittsburgh! Make Upstate proud!

Champions!
Congratulations to Colgate and Cortland, our 2021 Upstate New York Rugby Conference Champions!
Colgate earned the crown by topping the division during the regular season, going undefeated to clinch the Divison 1 title.
Cortland outscored Ithaca in the championship game to earn the Small College crown.
Both teams move on to the NCR round of 16 in Syracuse, November 13. Travel to give them some rowdy upstate support!
Details for both teams should be posted soon at 2021 Women’s Collegiate Rugby Championship.

Playoffs
Congratulations on a great season- We know it was not easy with return to play after COVID but we are thrilled that everyone got to play some rugby.
For the Small College side:
- In the west the top two seeds are: #1 University of Rochester and #2 St. Bonaventure.
- In the east the top two seeds are: #1 Cortland and #2 Ithaca.
This weekend, Rochester will host Ithaca and Cortland will host St. Bonaventure in the Small College semi finals.
The winners will face off next weekend in for championship—and an automatic bid to the NCR regionals in Syracuse.
For the D1 teams:
Syracuse and Colgate face off this week for what is effectively the championship game, as they are the two teams contention for the top spot.
The winner will be crowned champion and receive an automatic bid to the NCR D1 regionals in Syracuse.

Click on either the green REGISTER button at the upper right or on the REGISTER TODAY! button at the top of the page below the menu band.

To register:
- Register the club on the NCR website. A confirmation email will be sent to you.
- Open the email and claim your team's SportsEngine HQ using a unique URL. This URL is how you will connect to your team site (Headquarters) on Sports Engine.
- Login to your SportsEngine HQ and register your members using the club link.
NOTE: This is also the link you will send to your players and other coaches to register to the club. - Click on National Collegiate Ruby tab > Memberships.
- Click on Generate an open Link, which is under the Public Club Assignment section.
- Copy & Email the link to your club's players and coaches. They will use this link to register.
Fall Competition 2021
The Upstate New York Collegiate Rugby Conference will be playing this fall!
There will be two tiers of full 15s, corresponding to NCR Open Division and Small College Division Play. a Northern New York Division of competitive rugby not leading to an NCR championship and in addition, for teams with small numbers due to the COVID-19 situation, we will be working to set up matches and/or round-robin competitions for teams of 10s or 7s.
The Open Division will consist of:
- SUNY Binghamton
- SUNY Buffalo
- Cornell University
- Colgate University
- Syracuse University
- The Rochester Institute of Technology (RIT)
The Small College Division will consist of an East Division and West Division.
East Division:
- SUNY Cortland
- Hamilton College
- Ithaca College
- LeMoyne College
West Division:
- SUNY Geneseo
- SUNY Fredonia
- Niagara University
- University of Rochester
Northern Division:
- Clarkson University
- SUNY Potsdam
- SUNY Plattsburgh
- St. Lawrence University

Because of the fluid nature of the current situation due to COVID, please stay in communication with the conference. Read and answer emails (check your inbox and spam folder!!!). And please be patient as things inevitably change while we pull all fo this together.
The Upstate NY conference, founded in 2014, is made up of women's teams from 29 colleges and universities. Teams previously competed at two levels in fall 15s: a hybrid division, made up of Division 2 (USA Rugby) and Small College (NSCRO) teams; and an exclusively NSCRO division. Colgate University was NSCRO national runner-up in 2016.
The conference also hosts a spring NSCRO 7s championship. In 2017 Colgate won the NSCRO national championship, and University of Rochester was the national runner-up in 2019.
NSCRO has announced that it will be divided into Open and Small College divisions. The Open division will be composed of teams previously in Division 1 and Division 2, and Small College-eligible teams seeking a higher level of competition. Small College division eligibility is based on enrollment of fewer than 3500 female students.
"While many decisions still need to be made in light of both the evolving college rugby landscape, and ongoing pandemic, we are confident that NSCRO will provide value to all of our schools regardless of size and competition level," said conference president Clarence Picard. "NSCRO has led the way in supporting women's rugby through championship and all-star events, and we're happy that our larger schools will now share in these opportunities."
The Upstate NY conference is currently in the process of scheduling for the fall 15s season, and plans to add a spring 7s series in 2021. The conference has also competed at the NSCRO Women's All Star 7s Championship the past three years. The Snow Leopards won bronze medals in 2018 and 2019.
This fall the conference welcomes the return of SUNY at Buffalo after a two-year hiatus. Additionally, D'Youville College joins as a brand-new program, and Cornell University joins from the Ivy League. The conference members are:
